News Topical, Digital Desk : The Central Water Commission (CWC) on Monday reported severe flood situation at 25 locations across the country, including 12 in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Bihar and one station each in Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Bengal.

Another 20 locations are experiencing above normal flooding, including nine in Uttar Pradesh, five in Bihar, four in Assam and one station each in Delhi and Bengal. Along with this, flood forecasts have been issued for 42 dams and barrages in states including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Bengal and Uttarakhand.

Flood situation in these places of UP

In Uttar Pradesh, the Yamuna is in severe or above normal flood condition in Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Kannauj and Auraiya and the Ganga in Ghazipur, Fatehpur, Ballia, Badaun, Kanpur and Varanasi. The Ghaghara is also flowing at a severe level in Ayodhya and Ballia.

What is the situation in Bihar?

In Bihar, the Ganga in Patna, Bhagalpur, Munger and Saran, the Kosi in Supaul and Khagaria, the Gandak in Vaishali and the Budhi Gandak in Khagaria are in severe flood situation.

Which areas of Gujarat?

In Gujarat, rivers including Narmada, Tapi, Damanganga, Mahi, Sabarmati, Anas, Som, Rail and Banas are expected to remain above normal to severe flood levels for the next two to three days.

Serious situation in Rajasthan too

In Rajasthan, more than normal to severe floods are expected in Sabarmati and Western Banas in Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur and Sirohi districts and in Banas and its tributaries in Chittorgarh, Bhilwara and Rajsamand.

condition of other states

In Uttarakhand, the Aglar river in Tehri Garhwal is facing severe floods, while the water level of Song river in Dehradun and Yamuna river in Uttarkashi is rising above normal.

There are reports of severe floods in Damoh and Datia in Madhya Pradesh, while there are reports of severe floods in Palamu and Sahibganj in Jharkhand.

The CWC said that if there is further rainfall in the catchment areas, then the release of water may lead to flooding in the downstream areas.
