News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Ganga Expressway to the nation in Hardoi on April 29th. The Yogi government is pursuing this project under the "Expressway cum Industrial Corridor" model. The government has developed the Ganga Expressway as an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster (IMLC), linking infrastructure with industrial development in Uttar Pradesh.
Under this plan of the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority, 12 industrial nodes are being developed along the 594-km-long expressway, for which 6,507 acres of land has been identified. So far, 987 investment proposals have been received, with a target investment of approximately ₹47,000 crore. This entire plan will establish a new network of industrial development in 12 districts. This development network will be developed on approximately 10,400 acres.
Under the IMLC plan, 12 nodes have been created across the entire expressway corridor, spanning all 12 districts. A total of 6,507 acres of land has been earmarked for these nodes. Each node has been designed based on its geographical location and industrial potential, to promote the integrated development of manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics sectors. The location and area of each node, from Meerut to Prayagraj, have been finalized. This strategic planning of these nodes will transform the entire expressway into an "economic growth belt."
Reduced industrial costs and increased competition
The IMLC plan is also receiving a strong response from investors. So far, 987 Expressions of Intent to Investment (EOIs) have been received, with a potential investment of ₹46,660 crore. This investment will primarily focus on manufacturing units, logistics parks, warehousing, e-commerce supply chains, and the agri-processing sector. IMLC nodes being developed along expressways will make freight transportation faster and cheaper, reducing costs for industries and increasing competitiveness.
This corridor will directly connect 12 districts, reducing regional inequality. Industrial activity will grow rapidly, particularly in districts like Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh. This will significantly increase local employment and economic activity. The Yogi government's focus is no longer limited to road construction, but rather aims to accelerate the state's economy by linking it with industrial development. The IMLC model being developed along with the Ganga Expressway is a key part of this vision, a strong step towards making Uttar Pradesh a major manufacturing and logistics hub in the country.
