New Delhi: ED has tightened its grip on Magicwin website which was broadcasting the matches of T-20 World Cup held in America and West Indies in June. In collaboration with the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station of Ahmedabad, ED raided 20 places related to Magicwin company in Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Bangalore and Coimbatore.

In the action taken under the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 20 lakh rupees in cash was recovered and 2 crore rupees deposited in the bank was frozen. Along with this, the crypto currency worth 12 crores kept in the company's crypto exchange has also been banned from being cashed. According to highly placed sources of ED, the Magicwin website can be opened from anywhere like mobile, smart TV and computer.

Evidence of betting found

On this website, the match between Ireland and Canada on June 7 and the match between India and Pakistan on June 9 were broadcasted live. Whereas ICC had given the right to broadcast the T-20 World Cup matches live to Star India and it could be watched by lakhs of people on Disney-Hotstar. According to a senior ED official, the investigation has also found evidence of Magicwin's involvement in sports betting.

Facility given to people to bet

People were given the facility to bet during the live broadcast of these matches on their website, which is illegal. A senior ED official described this case as a great example of mutual cooperation between various agencies to solve complex online crimes.

In this, the first FIR was registered in the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station of Ahmedabad and later the Ahmedabad branch of ED helped the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station in uncovering its layers. According to them, a lot of electronic documents have been recovered in the raid, which will be forensically examined and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence found in them.
