Washington: The war between Russia and Ukraine continues and there is no sign of it stopping at the moment. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has expressed disappointment over the situation in Ukraine. Trump said that its people (Ukraine) are 'dead' and the country is 'finished'. Trump said that Ukraine should have talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin before Russia's attack in February 2022. He said, 'Even if a very bad agreement had been reached, it would have been better than the situation today.'
Trump has been making big claims
These statements of Donald Trump have also raised the question that if the former president is re-elected, how much concession will he be willing to give in the talks regarding the future of that country (Ukraine). Trump's attitude towards American aid to Ukraine has been critical. Trump has often claimed that if he were the president, Russia would never attack. He has also claimed that if he becomes president again, he will stop the war. But, he has never spoken on this subject in detail.
Most parts of Ukraine have become ruins
The former president said during an event in North Carolina that most of Ukraine outside Kiev has turned into ruins. Trump said Ukraine is short of soldiers and the population is decreasing due to deaths in the war and people moving to neighboring countries. He questioned whether the country has any scope to negotiate to end the war. Trump said, 'Any agreement - even a bad agreement - would have been better than the situation we have today.'
'Who knows how many lives would have been saved'
Former President Donald Trump said, "Even if they had made a bad deal, it would have been much better than this. If they had sacrificed a little, God knows how many lives would have been saved." The former President said, "What deal can we make now? It (Ukraine) is over. People are dead. The country has turned into rubble."
