News Topical, Digital Desk : Pain is a feeling that signals us that something is not right in the body. People generally experience pain from time to time, but persistent pain is different. When pain persists for six months or more, it is called chronic pain. This pain is a signal from our nervous system. It can be mild, stabbing, numbing or sharp. Sometimes it is limited to one part of the body, and sometimes it is felt throughout the body. In this, a complex coordination works between the nerves, spinal cord and brain.

There are two types of pain: acute, which lasts for a short time, and chronic, which has long-term effects. Short-term pain is usually associated with an injury, cut, wound, or sprain and resolves within three to six months. It is often sharp and intense. Chronic pain persists for more than six months and is often associated with an underlying condition like arthritis. Its intensity fluctuates, but attacks of pain may occur intermittently. Chronic pain can affect a person's daily life. Some diseases are considered among the most painful conditions in the world. Let us tell you about them.

cluster headache

This is a rare but extremely severe type of headache. The pain comes on suddenly and recurs over a period of time. Symptoms such as restlessness and anxiety may also appear. The pain often occurs on one side of the head and worsens within minutes. It can last for several hours and return several times a day.

Herpes zoster

It is a viral infection that affects the nerves. It can cause burning, stinging, and severe pain, along with itching and blisters. The same chickenpox virus can reactivate and cause this disease. Older adults and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.

Frozen Shoulder

This condition causes stiffness and severe pain in the shoulder joint. It's difficult to rotate or raise the arm. Symptoms begin gradually and worsen over time. This condition usually resolves gradually over one to three years.

bone fracture

A fracture is a crack or break in a bone. It can occur in any bone in the body. It causes severe pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the affected area. The type of fracture depends on the severity of the injury.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

This is a long-term painful condition that often affects an arm or leg after an injury. It's believed to be related to nerve damage. The pain feels like a burning or stabbing sensation. The skin in the affected area may also change color, temperature, or swell.

Heart Attack

A heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked. This can be a life-threatening condition. It causes a feeling of pressure or tightness in the chest, which can spread to the arms, neck, or jaw. If not treated promptly, this condition can become serious.
