Karachi: The fifth case of monkeypox has been reported in Pakistan, creating a stir. Meanwhile, officials at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport reported a suspected case of monkeypox on Saturday. According to ARY News, this person has arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by PIA flight. He showed symptoms like monkeypox.

The passenger has been kept in an isolation ward run by the Sindh government. He will undergo further tests here. Earlier this week, the fifth case of monkeypox was reported in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. ARY News quoted an official as saying that the 33-year-old victim is a resident of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Patient returned from Saudi

The official said that upon his return to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia on September 7, the Khyber Teaching Hospital confirmed that he had monkeypox. According to Qasim Ali Shah, the patient has been kept in isolation at his house in Lower Dir.

Pakistan issued an immediate warning

Pakistan's National Institute of Health sent an urgent alert about an unprecedented outbreak of monkeypox. Monkeypox has wreaked havoc in many countries of the world. Monkeypox is now known as ampox.

Alert regarding Ampox in India too

A suspected case of ampox has been reported in India as well. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has shared information related to this with all the states. It has also advised to isolate the suspected patients and do their contact tracing.

First vaccine approved

On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) has given the green signal to the first vaccine for ampox. This vaccine will be for adults. This vaccine is from the Bavarian Nordic Company. Its supply will be limited for now. But organizations like UNICEF will be able to buy it.
