 Heavy monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in northwest Pakistan. At least eight people, including two children, died overnight due to the rains. Officials have given this information. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) officials said that it is raining continuously in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Mansehra and Mohmand districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In Bannu, two sisters died when the roof of a house collapsed due to lightning. In Dera Ismail Khan district, a mother and her minor son lost their lives in a similar roof collapse incident. In Paharpur tehsil, a girl was swept away by the strong flow of water.

There was heavy damage to standing crops in the province

While a woman died due to rain-related incident in Mohmand district, two deaths were reported from Mansehra. Officials said that the rain has also caused heavy damage to standing crops in the province. It is being said that the death toll due to rain in Pakistan has so far reached 215.

Pakistan's eastern province is the worst affected

The worst affected so far has been eastern Punjab province, where 86 people died. Pakistan suffered one of its worst flood disasters caused by intense rainfall during the summer of 2022. According to government reports, the floods resulted in the death of 1,700 people, affected 33 million people and caused massive damage to homes and agricultural land.
