The villain of Bollywood whom people started hating even in real life, got his first film while making rings with cigarettes

One of these names is Pran Krishna Sikand, whom we all know as Pran. It would not be wrong to call him the biggest villain of Indian cinema. His on-screen presence was so strong that the audience was forced to clap in the cinema halls and sometimes they started hating him in real life too. It was the magic of his acting that people forgot the difference between the film and reality.

How did Pran become a villain?

Pran started his career in 1940 with the Punjabi film 'Yamla Jat' but he got real recognition in Hindi cinema, where he gave a new dimension to villainous roles. Every character of his, be it the cruel landlord of 'Milan' or Sher Khan of 'Zanjeer', left its mark in the hearts of the audience. His voice, the expression of his eyes and a special kind of smile on his face, all together made him a unique villain

Mothers were afraid to name him Pran

There is a famous story about Pran that whenever a newborn child was to be named, the parents used to hesitate to name him Pran, only because they were afraid that their child might grow up to become a villain. It was the result of his acting ability that people were so impressed after seeing him on screen. 

The first film was found in a cigarette shop

The story of the beginning of Pran's career is also very interesting. It is said that he was making cigarette rings at a paan shop in Lahore, when a film producer Mohammad Wali's attention fell on him. Wali sahab was so impressed with his looks and his style of making cigarette rings that he immediately offered him to work in his next film. This film was ' Yamla Jat ' which came in 1940. After this, he never looked back.

Pran not only played villainous roles, but also proved his acting skills by playing positive roles in films like 'Upkar' and 'Johnny Mera Naam'. He has also been honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
