Mothers were afraid to name him Pran
There is a famous story about Pran that whenever a newborn child was to be named, the parents used to hesitate to name him Pran, only because they were afraid that their child might grow up to become a villain. It was the result of his acting ability that people were so impressed after seeing him on screen.
The first film was found in a cigarette shop
The story of the beginning of Pran's career is also very interesting. It is said that he was making cigarette rings at a paan shop in Lahore, when a film producer Mohammad Wali's attention fell on him. Wali sahab was so impressed with his looks and his style of making cigarette rings that he immediately offered him to work in his next film. This film was ' Yamla Jat ' which came in 1940. After this, he never looked back.
Pran not only played villainous roles, but also proved his acting skills by playing positive roles in films like 'Upkar' and 'Johnny Mera Naam'. He has also been honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
