Beijing: Super typhoon 'Yagi' has hit China. 'Yagi' has caused devastation in China. Two people have died and 92 people have been injured due to heavy rains and strong winds in the island province of Hainan in South China. According to the news agency, Yagi storm is the 11th storm of this year, this storm first attacked Hainan and later Guangdong province.

Along with this, flood warning has been issued in the southern region as Yagi first made landfall in Hainan and then in southern Guangdong province and there is a possibility of floods in China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and northern Vietnam.

11th storm enters China

Super Typhoon Yagi killed two people and injured 92 others as it lashed south China's island province of Hainan with heavy rain and strong winds, local officials said on Saturday. Yagi, the 11th typhoon this year, made two landfalls in China on Friday, first striking Hainan and later Guangdong province.

China on Friday issued a red alert and warned of flooding in the southern region and flooding is expected in China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and northern Vietnam. More than one million people have been evacuated from the affected areas, work, classes and businesses have been suspended and more than 100 flights were cancelled on Friday, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported.

Condition worsened due to heavy rain and wind

Heavy rain and strong winds hit Henan, with the city of Wenchang - one of the country's rocket launch sites - also causing power outages in many areas of the city.

A video has been doing the rounds on social media, the viral video shows the province's iconic coconut trees smashed and toppled. Fallen billboards, destroyed roofs and overturned vehicles were everywhere.

Residents said it was terrifying to see the storm break windows in their homes and flood their furniture. From 1949 to 2023, Hainan has been hit by 106 typhoons but only nine have been classified as super typhoons.
