News Topical, Digital Desk : President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he will not sign any other bill until Congress approves the Voter Rights Act bill, which Democrats believe will disenfranchise some voters.

Trump has taken a hard line on the bill, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. It passed the House of Representatives in February but faces a tough challenge in the Senate.

The bill would require proof of citizenship when registering to vote in the November midterm elections and would impose criminal penalties on election officials who register someone without the required documents.

Democratic Party leaders say the bill is an attempt to suppress voting and undermine their electoral chances. Independent analysts say the Democratic Party is highly likely to retain control of the House. If Democrats gain a majority in the House, the final two years of Trump's term could be extremely complicated.
