News Topical, Digital Desk : There is a race to acquire 5th generation fighter aircraft all over the world. There are only a few countries that have these aircraft. India is also building its own indigenous 5th generation fighter aircraft. Meanwhile, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has given a big update on the engine of fifth generation fighter aircraft. Rajnath Singh has revealed which country and which company will be involved in manufacturing the engine of India's fifth generation fighter aircraft. Let us know what he has revealed.

With which country will the engine be made?

India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said - "Today we have taken a step forward towards making 5th generation fighter aircraft. We have also moved towards making aircraft engines in India itself. We are going to start engine making work in India with French company Safran."

Defense exports increased 35 times since 2014

Today, India's defense export has increased almost 35 times compared to 2014. In the year 2013-14, the defense export from India was only 686 crores, which has increased to 23,622 crores in 2024-25. Earlier we were completely dependent on foreign countries for our defense needs, but today India is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in the matter of defense. In the last eleven years, the country's defense budget, which was ₹ 2,53,346 crores in 2013-14, has increased almost three times i.e. reached ₹ 6,21,940.85 crores in 2024-25. After Operation Sindoor, this defense budget is going to increase even more.

There was also talk about Tejas aircraft

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "You will be happy to know that just a few days ago we have given a new order to HAL to make 97 Tejas fighter planes at a cost of about Rs 66,000 crore. Even before this, HAL was given an order to make 83 aircraft at a cost of Rs 48,000 crore. The quality of equipment of foreign companies that impresses us, that quality was not built in a day. It also took a long time and they got equal support from their country. Take the example of our HAL, it also did not build 'Tejas' on the first day, but our support and the growing confidence of our army gave HAL the energy to move forward towards the construction of 'Tejas'. Our Tejas aircraft is going to become a great example of India's indigenous defense capabilities. It is not that we are not facing problems in this work, but we have decided that we will find a solution to every problem and will definitely create the full capability of making fighter aircraft in India."

Opportunity for the world's big defense companies- Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "We are providing a suitable growth environment to the private sector. Accordingly, we have opened up opportunities to build mega defence programmes including fighter aircraft, helicopters, tanks and submarines through the strategic partnership model, which will help our private companies become global giants in the coming years. We are well aware that it takes time to establish defence research and development in the private sector. To promote this process, we provide opportunities for free 'transfer of technology' through DRDO. This is a big step towards self-reliance in the defence technology sector. When we talk of self-reliance, we are not just talking about Indian companies. Today is an opportunity for all the world's largest defence companies to invest in India and co-produce defence equipment here."
