News Topical, Digital Desk : Despite facing severe criticism from his Christian voters, US President Donald Trump has again targeted Pope Leo XIV.

He said someone should inform the Pope that Iran has killed 42,000 innocent people. The US President made this remark in reference to the Pope's call for dialogue with Iran.

"Will someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed protesters in the last two months and that Iran having a nuclear bomb is absolutely unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Pope Leo XIV is the first American-born pope. Trump has previously publicly criticized the pope's stance on Iran and domestic issues. He has called Pope Leo's stance inaccurate and has said the pope would be unhappy with the consequences of his administration's policies.

"I'm not going to apologize to Pope Leo. I think he's very weak on offense and other things," Trump told reporters at the White House.

NATO criticized again

Trump again criticized NATO on Wednesday. "NATO was not with us, and it will not be with us in the future," he said in a post on Truth Social.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump had expressed deep disappointment with the 32-member NATO, accusing it of not helping his country in the war with Iran, while the US spent trillions of dollars to defend Europe from Russia.
