News Topical, Digital Desk : Political activity has intensified in Maharashtra regarding the BMC elections. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar has further raised the political temperature in the state with a major statement. Regarding the question of contesting the elections with the Mahayuti (grand alliance), he clearly stated that a decision will be made based on the circumstances and demand for the upcoming municipal elections.

Speaking to the media in Pune, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “We fought the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections together as part of the Mahayuti, but for the upcoming municipal elections, we will take a decision after looking at the situation and demand.”

Will the constituent parties of Mahayuti fight the BMC elections together?

Meanwhile, leaders of the Mahayuti (grand alliance) BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena have maintained that they will contest the BMC elections together. Last August, Maharashtra BJP leader Sanjay Upadhyay claimed that the mayor of the BMC would be from the Mahayuti.

He had said, "Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP will contest the elections together with the Mahayuti alliance. Based on the alliance's strength and strategy, the post of mayor in the BMC will go to the Mahayuti."

What did Eknath Shinde say about the BMC elections?

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde also claimed last month that the parties in the Mahayuti (grand alliance) would contest the local body elections together. Shinde also expressed confidence of victory in this election. While the dates for the BMC elections have not yet been announced, the attention of not only Mumbai but the entire country is focused on them.
