News Topical,Digital Desk : Age Related Belly Fat : Have you ever wondered why as age increases, our waist widens and belly fat increases. American scientists have found the answer to this question. A new research has been done to understand the reason behind this. This shows why changes occur in the body with increasing age. Research conducted by the American City of Hope organization revealed that with increasing age, the production of a special type of fat cells in our body starts increasing, especially in the area around the stomach, which increases fat.
Why does fat increase?
Qiong Wang, the main member of the team that researches diseases like cancer and metabolism, and his colleagues found that most people believe that with age, only body weight increases, but this is not only due to the increase in the size of fat cells, but new fat cells also start forming. Wang said, 'With increasing age, a new type of adult stem cell becomes active, which increases the production of fat cells in the body, and this increases belly fat.'
Experiments done on mice
During this research, scientists conducted experiments on mice, which were later applied to human cells. The research found that white adipose tissue (WAT), which causes fat with aging, has the ability to produce new fat cells. The surprising thing in the research was that when special adipocyte progenitor cells (APCs) were taken from old mice and transplanted into young mice, they rapidly produced new fat. Not only this, when these cells were put from young mice into old mice, their effect was exactly the opposite, that is, new fat cells started forming in the old mice.
Important role of LIFR signaling
The scientists also discovered that a specific signaling pathway, called LIFR, controls the production of fat cells as we age. This signaling is activated to produce fat cells in older mice. This discovery clearly shows that this pathway promotes fat formation with increasing age, leading to more fat accumulation around the belly.
Hope for a new treatment
This research also indicates that in the future, new treatments may emerge that can reduce abdominal fat by controlling this signaling pathway. Scientists believe that based on this discovery, we can work on new measures to reduce age-related obesity.
