News Topical, Digital Desk : Recently, Israel has carried out the most fierce attack ever on Iran's armed bases and its nuclear bases, which it named Operation 'Rising Lion'. The Israeli army claimed that in this attack it completely destroyed Iran's nuclear bases. Along with this, many nuclear scientists of Iran have also been killed. Israel carried out this attack on Iran when America was repeatedly warning Iran to stop its nuclear program.

How many countries in the world have nuclear bombs?

Now, in response to this attack, Iran has threatened Israel and America to face "serious consequences". Let us tell you, both these countries are among the 9 countries of the world which are nuclear powers.

Also, this incident has raised a big question: Why do only 9 countries in the world have nuclear weapons? Which are these countries? Why are the rest of the countries not able to acquire this power? And if a country wants to make a nuclear bomb, what does it have to do? Let us understand all these things in a simple and interesting way.

9 Superheroes of Nuclear Power

There are only 9 countries in the world that are equipped with nuclear weapons... and these are: America, Russia, Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea. They have a total of about 12,121 nuclear weapons. And the interesting thing? 90% of these are with America and Russia only! But why have the rest of the countries not been able to join this superpower club? Let's unveil this secret too.

Making an atomic bomb is no child's play

Making an atomic bomb is no child's play. It is a science that requires going through heavy scientific processes like uranium enrichment, nuclear fission and fusion. This requires a lot of money, high-tech labs, and super-smart scientists. Many countries do not even have the strength to start it. But some countries, like Japan and Germany, are so capable that they can make an atomic bomb if they want. Still, why don't they do it? The answer to this is an agreement called the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

NPT: The Gatekeeper of Nuclear Weapons

In 1968, the world took a big step and created a treaty called NPT, which came into force in 1970. Its purpose was to prevent the further spread of nuclear weapons. 190 countries signed this treaty. The rule was that only five countries—America, Russia, Britain, France and China—could have nuclear weapons, because they had already developed these weapons. But then how did India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea make nuclear weapons? In fact, these four countries either did not become a part of this treaty or got out of it after conducting nuclear tests.

Who gives permission to make atomic bombs?

To be honest, one does not need anyone's "permission" to make a nuclear bomb. But yes, one has to pay the price for breaking the rules of NPT. If a country breaks this treaty and makes nuclear weapons, it may have to face sanctions, economic restrictions, and even military attacks from all over the world. Iran is the latest example of this.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitors the nuclear program of every country. It ensures that nuclear technology is used only for peaceful purposes like making electricity, and not for making bombs. If a country tries to make a bomb, the IAEA and the United Nations take strong action against it.

What is the future of the Middle East?

Israel's attack on Iran is proof that the story of nuclear weapons is not over yet. Iran's nuclear program and the attack on it have brought the Middle East to a powder keg. The big question is whether the world will ever be free from this nuclear threat? Or will the game of superpowers continue like this?

As long as all the countries of the world follow the NPT and technical and economic challenges remain, the scope of nuclear weapons will remain limited. But tensions like Israel-Iran make us realize how destructive this nuclear power can be. But will the world be able to escape this threat? Only time will tell.
