News Topical, Digital Desk : The politics of the Union Territory has heated up after Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Doda. Meanwhile, BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana reacted to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti's comment on Malik's arrest. He said that she has always raised such issues which are sensitive. They want us to live under Z Plus security and a poor child should throw stones.
Reacting to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti's remarks on the arrest of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, BJP MP Khatana said, "Now she has to keep her party alive. She always raises such sensitive issues, but what we want for Jammu and Kashmir is very clear, children should be in schools, youth should excel in sports, businessmen should increase their employment, and the poor should be given opportunities to build their future, they should not be pushed towards unrest.
'What did they do in the last 30-40 years?'
BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana further alleged, "They want to live under Z-plus security and poor children should pelt stones and work in putting up calendars. What have they done in the last 30-40 years? The number of graveyards has increased, there are countless widows and thousands of children have become orphans. What is their fault? They have always voted for them, but they lie to them. BJP does not lie to anyone."
What did Mehbooba Mufti say?
Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said on the arrest of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, "Instead of putting an elected representative behind bars, the matter should have been resolved through legislative processes. Imposing PSA on an MLA is unacceptable. The speaker should have called an emergency assembly session, the matter should have been discussed. This is how things work in a democracy."
It is noteworthy that AAP MLA Mehraj Malik was detained on Monday (September 8) on charges of disrupting public order. Violent protests took place after his detention. Curfew is imposed in Doda and a large number of security forces have been deployed.
