News Topical, Digital Desk : Vedanta Ltd on Saturday released its operational update for the quarter ended December (Q3), which showed strong performance in the company's key metals and power segments. Vedanta's aluminium production during the quarter increased by 1 per cent year-on-year to a record high of 620 kilo tonnes (kt), while alumina production grew by a robust 57 per cent year-on-year to 794 kt. The company also recorded record production in 9 months (9M). During this period, aluminium production increased by 1 per cent to 1,842 kt and alumina production increased by 32 per cent to 2,034 kt.

The zinc segment also saw strong performance. Zinc India recorded its highest ever mined metal production of 276 kt in Q3, up 4% year-on-year. Refined zinc metal production also increased by 4% to 270 kt. Saleable zinc metal increased 9% quarter-on-quarter and 4% year-on-year. 

Zinc International's production increased 28% . Zinc International's production in its international operations increased 28% year-on-year to 59 kt. Silver production increased 10% quarter-on-quarter, although it saw a slight decline of 1% year-on-year. In other segments, steel, ferrochrome, and iron ore production increased 19%, 26%, and 49% quarter-on-quarter.
