Greater Noida: The Noida International Airport being built in Jewar will be bigger. Zurich Airport International AG, the developer company building the airport, has given the expanded master plan of the airport to Noida International Airport Ltd. (NIAL).

An extended master plan has been given to increase the distance between the runways for connectivity between the terminals and for rail and road connectivity. NIAL has given the responsibility of studying this to PWC. After this, this proposal will be sent to the state government. Noida International Airport is being constructed in 1334 hectares in Jewar.

The distance between the two runways will be 1600 meters

The airport will start operating with one runway in December. Work is underway on road and rail connectivity for the airport. Construction of the second runway will begin when the annual number of passengers reaches 1.2 crore.

There will be a distance of 1,600 metres between the two runways, but the developer company Zurich Airport International AG has submitted an extended master plan to NIAL and has sought to increase the distance between the runways.

There is a need to increase the distance between runways

To prepare the detailed project report of the airport, many airports of the country and the world were studied. According to this, the distance of both the runways was fixed at 1600. But at that time, the airport terminal builder did not have the idea of building a ground transportation center and providing connectivity with rail, Namo Bharat Rail, road etc.

Now work is going on on these projects. In future, there is a plan to expand the airport to six runways. For this, the terminal buildings will also be connected to each other. So that passengers can have easy movement. Therefore, an extended master plan has been given to increase the distance between the runways.

In the third phase, 2082 hectares of land is proposed to be acquired.

NIAL has sent a proposal of 2082 hectares in the third phase to the district administration to completely acquire the land reserved for the airport. The SIA process is underway on this. A total of 4781 hectares of land will be acquired in all three phases.

In case the extended master plan is approved, only five runways can be constructed in this area instead of six. As soon as the Master Plan 2041 is approved, a proposal to acquire about one thousand hectares more land for the construction of six runways has been given to the district administration.

With its acquisition, the boundary of the aviation hub will reach the boundary of Tappal in Aligarh district. Yamuna Authority has already got the proposal to include this area in the aviation hub approved from the board.

Four airlines will start their service

Passenger services of four airline companies will be available from Noida International Airport. These include Air India, Akasa, Indigo and Spice Jet. The planes of these companies will also be parked in the hangar of Noida Airport.

The extended master plan of Noida airport has been given by the developer. There is a proposal to increase the distance between the runways to 2400 meters. The distance between the runways at the airports being built in Istanbul, Turkey and Beijing, China is 2400 meters.
