Lucknow: If a student leaves his studies in medical and dental colleges midway, he will not be given admission in the next academic session. This rule has been implemented for students studying graduation, post-graduation and superspeciality courses. New rules have been implemented on the instructions of the National Medical Commission (NMC). At the same time, a fine of Rs 5 lakh will no longer be taken from students who leave their studies midway.
Director General of Medical Education Kinjal Singh issued these instructions to all medical and dental colleges across the state on Friday. Now students taking admission in courses like MBBS, MD, MS, MCH, BDS and MDS will have to think many times before leaving their studies midway. Till now they used to leave their studies midway by paying a fine of Rs 5 lakh and take admission in other courses in the next session.
Now if they do this, they will have to wait for one year for admission as they will be debarred for admission in the next session. NMC has implemented this rule from the academic session 2024-25. This rule will not apply to students who have taken admission in the previous academic session. They will be able to leave the seat by paying the fine and they will not be considered debarred for admission in the next session.
25 students debarred for not taking admission after seat allocation
25 students who were allotted seats in three phases of stray vacancy round in MBBS and BDS courses in the last session did not take admission. Among them, 17 are MBBS and 8 are BDS course students. Now they will not get the opportunity to participate in the admission process of MBBS and BDS in this academic session. Their security deposit has also been confiscated.
