Hardoi: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, launched to provide housing to homeless families, has been extended for five years. According to the order issued, now under the Pradhan Mantri Yojana, eligible persons will be selected till 2028-29 and they will be given financial assistance to build houses.

Project Director, Rural Development Agency, Prem Tripathi said that as soon as instructions are received from the government, a survey of eligible homeless families will be started.  The Project Director said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, two crore families in the country will be given the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

A survey of eligible families will be conducted to provide benefits under the housing scheme. Those homeless families found in the Socio-economic Survey 2011 and Housing Plus Survey 2018 conducted earlier under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, who have not been able to avail the benefits of the scheme till now due to some reasons, will also be benefited.

You will get the benefit of the scheme even if you have a motorcycle

The project director said that under the new guidelines, if any member of a homeless family has a motorcycle, he will also be given the benefit of the scheme. Earlier, if any member of the family had a motorcycle, he was excluded from the scheme, however, this will not happen now.

Among other conditions, a family will not be able to avail the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana if it has a three-wheeler or four-wheeler vehicle for agricultural use. A family will be excluded from the eligibility category if it has a Kisan Credit Card of Rs. 50,000 or more, if there are government employees in the family, if the family is registered in non-agricultural enterprises, has a monthly income of Rs. 15,000 or more, pays income tax, professional tax, has two and a half acres of irrigated land or five acres or more of non-irrigated land.
