Balrampur:  On August 6, pieces of an unidentified body were found in plastic bags on the road from Ajabnagar to Kamharihwa in Dehat Kotwali. The police has revealed the incident.

The body has been identified as Gudiya alias Neetu Pandey, a resident of Ranibazar Badgaon, Gonda. Gudiya's husband Shankar Dayal Gupta had brutally murdered his wife due to a mutual dispute and chopped the body into pieces.

The pieces of the body were brought to Balrampur and thrown in sacks. The accused has said that he threw the remains of the body in two sacks from the old bridge of Saryu in Ayodhya and two sacks from the new bridge.

Police have recovered a Discover motorcycle, a sharp iron saw, chopper, hexa blade, electronic cutter machine and the mobile phone of the deceased from Itiyathok Gonda from the accused.

Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar said that a post-mortem was conducted after pieces of a human body were found in the sacks. An SIT was formed after it was confirmed that it was a woman's body.

The chief investigator was Rural Police Station in-charge Inspector Durgesh Kumar Singh, co-investigator was SWAT team in-charge Satyendra Bahadur Singh and sub-inspector Ashish Kumar Singh. The CCTV footage around the crime scene was scanned to identify the body of the unknown woman.

In the CCTV footage installed at Agarhawa crossing, closest to the scene of the incident, it was seen that on the morning of August 6, a suspicious person was seen carrying a white sack tied at the back of a motorcycle and a white sack in a large bag in the front right legguard.

The suspected biker was traced on the basis of CCTV footage. Meanwhile, the number of the motorcycle was obtained in the CCTV footage.

On investigation, the bike was found in the name of Shankar Dayal Gupta, resident of 260 Ranibazar Badgaon Kotwali Nagar Gonda. When the police reached the vehicle owner's house, it was found locked.

People living nearby said that Shankar Dayal lives in that house with his wife and his first wife's son. The house has been locked for several days and a foul smell is emanating from the house.

A team was formed and Shankar Dayal was arrested on 27 August at Gonda railway station. After thorough interrogation, the murder weapon was recovered from his house at his location.

Arms Act was added in the case. Her bike parked in the joint parking of Gonda railway station and the mobile of the deceased was recovered from Itiyathok market.

Met the families of missing women in 15 districts

To identify the body, the police investigated the missing reports of about 500 women registered in the 15 nearby districts and talked to their families. CCTV footage of about 300 km from Balrampur to Gonda, Ayodhya, Barabanki and Lucknow was scanned.

The murder was committed on August 1

During interrogation, Shankar Dayal told that he had married Gudiya alias Neetu Pandey in 2023. There was a dispute between them since marriage. On July 30, he had decided to kill his wife. On August 1, he killed his wife.

On August 3, the body was chopped into pieces, packed in two sacks to hide it, and thrown into the river from the old Saryu bridge in Ayodhya.

On August 6, the body parts in two sacks were thrown on the side of the road leading to village Ajabnagar Kamharihawa and on August 7, the remaining body parts in two sacks were thrown into the river from the new bridge of Saryu in Ayodhya. On August 8, at 10 pm, he fled to Lucknow. He was hiding there.
