News Topical, Digital Desk : President Donald Trump has nominated his longtime political ally Sergio Gor as the next US ambassador to India. Gore currently serves as director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. At a delicate moment in relations between New Delhi and the US, Trump is sending one of his most sensitive spokesmen to India.

Trump said Gore, 38, is a good friend

In a social media post on Friday, Trump said that 38-year-old Gore is a good friend who has been with me for many years. He said that I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gore to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India. Trump said that he will also serve as Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.

Trump said this in the statement

Trump said Gore and his team had appointed nearly 4,000 officials across federal departments and agencies "in record time," adding that more than 95 percent of the positions were now filled.

Gore's foes include Elon Musk, who labeled Gore a snake following his contentious fallout with Trump after he thwarted the tech and aerospace billionaire's selection to lead NASA.

Gore had limited foreign policy experience

Gore's influence did not include extensive foreign policy experience, other than participation in overseas trips and leading the firing of National Security Council staffers whose views were skeptical.
