News Topical, Digital Desk : A fire broke out at a refinery in Los Angeles, USA. The blaze was so severe that it blanketed the entire area in a thick cloud of smoke. California Governor Gavin Newsom's press office announced this on Thursday.

According to reports, a fire broke out at Chevron's El Segundo refinery in Los Angeles County. The city's fire department was notified, and efforts to control the blaze began. However, the fire is currently unaffected by the international airport.

The cause of the fire is not clear

The cause of the refinery fire is not yet clear. However, CBS reported that officers and firefighters arrived at the refinery after receiving reports of an explosion. Police in El Segundo did not immediately report any injuries or evacuations.

Meanwhile, Chevron stated on its website that the refinery has a total rated capacity of 290,000 barrels per day and its main products are gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel. It reportedly has a total storage capacity of 12.5 million barrels across approximately 150 major tanks.
