News Topical, Digital Desk : A shocking case of gross negligence has come to light in Bengaluru, Karnataka. A 6-year-old girl's two fingers were severed at a government school on the outskirts of Tumkur. The severed fingers were subsequently thrown into a dustbin.

The incident occurred on February 11th but has only now come to light. The Class 1 student was waiting in line for her mid-day meal on the school campus in Guluru when the metal door of the classroom allegedly slammed on her hand. Two of her fingers were severed. Despite profuse bleeding, the teachers present at the school did not take her to the hospital.

The severed fingers were thrown in the dustbin

It is claimed that the severed fingers were swept away and thrown into the trash. In their complaint, her parents alleged that no attempt was made to save the fingers or arrange for emergency care. The girl's father learned of the incident later, delaying the student's medical attention.

They allege that had the girl received timely medical attention, her fingers could have been reattached. When the parents returned to the school to find the severed fingers, they were reportedly told that the staff had thrown them away because the blood would frighten other students.

Complaint filed against school staff

The girl's family also alleged that school officials transferred 2,000 rupees to her parents' account to try to wash their hands of the matter. Following the complaint, Tumakuru Rural Police registered an FIR against headmaster Nagesh, teachers Renukamma and Venkatesh, and Block Education Officer Hanumanthappa for negligence and carelessness in an emergency.
