News Topical, Digital Desk : There's some relief for residents of South Delhi who struggle with the daily long traffic jams. The Delhi government's Finance and Expenditure Committee has approved two major projects that are crucial for traffic management.

These include the construction of a six-lane integrated elevated road and two underpasses on MB Road from Saket G-Block to Pul Prahladpur. The entire project will cost approximately ₹1,471.14 crore and is scheduled to be completed by December 2027.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister

The Finance and Expenditure Committee met at the Delhi Secretariat, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The project was approved after detailed discussions on its technical, financial, and structural framework.

The government says the project will streamline and streamline South Delhi's traffic network. The approximately 5-kilometer-long corridor will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the area.

The Chief Minister stated that the investment in this project will significantly improve the traffic system in South Delhi. It will provide relief from the hours-long traffic jams on MB Road, increase average vehicle speeds, and save time for millions of daily commuters. This will particularly benefit office-goers, school buses, and essential services like ambulances.

Elevated road will be built in double decker system

The project will be developed by the DMRC. The elevated corridor will be designed to optimally integrate both road and metro infrastructure. It will be a double-decker system, with metro trains running on top and a six-lane elevated road below. This will help handle more traffic in a smaller space.

Underpasses will be built on Saket and BRT corridors.

Two underpasses will also be constructed as part of the project, one at Saket G-Block and the other on the BRT corridor. This will speed up traffic flow and reduce congestion at intersections in densely populated areas like Saket G-Block, Ambedkar Nagar, Khanpur, and Sangam Vihar.

Additionally, in-principle approval has been granted for a six-lane elevated road, approximately two and a half kilometers long, from Sangam Vihar to Maa Anandmayi Marg. This proposal is being sent to the Central Government's Ministry of Culture, as this area falls under the Tughlaqabad Fort. Once approved, major work can begin to improve traffic in this area.
