Photos of apprehended stone-pelters and details of the actions taken against them will be publicly displayed at railway stations to curb such incidents and send a strong message to the public.
Since July 2023, there have been five incidents of stone-pelting on the Vande Bharat train. The reasons given by the arrested accused in all five cases are shocking. The first incident involved a porter throwing stones. Upon being caught, the porter stated that he threw the stones in protest against trains being locked in the yard. Another person said he threw the stones in protest after his goat was run over by a train.
The stone-thrower near Domingarh stated that he wanted to see what the Vande Bharat icon's mirror would look like after throwing the stone. Meanwhile, the stone-thrower near Tarang Crossing stated in his statement that he was unable to cross from one side to the other, so he threw the stone.
RPF Inspector Dashrath Prasad, providing information on the matter, said that the Vande Bharat train has been stoned five times in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas. All the accused have been arrested. Their photos will now be posted, sending a message to those who engage in such activities.
