"Buddha Smiled" was the code message sent to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi when India successfully conducted its first nuclear test at Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan on May 18, 1974. The date was Buddha Purnima. Hence, the codename.

Addressing the nation for the first time after the start of Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister mentioned Buddha Purnima and said that Lord Buddha has shown us the path of peace. A befitting reply will be given to terror attacks: Modi
The Prime Minister said that if there is a terrorist attack on India, a befitting reply will be given. We will respond in our own way, on our own terms. We will take strict action at every place from where the roots of terrorism emerge. Modi said in full firmness and warning that we have only postponed the campaign against Pakistan and the future will depend on their behavior.
