News Topical, Digital Desk : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Oman on December 17th and 18th, marking a new milestone in India's special friendship with the country. Oman, an Arab country and one of the world's oldest independent nations, is known for its ancient civilization, maritime power, and cultural heritage. Oman, under the leadership of Sultan Qaboos in the 1970s, defined a new era of modern development and is still known for its progressive approach to culture, traditions, and strategic location. The country has experienced poverty, but through its oil trade, it overcame poverty. It remained a maritime power for centuries and is today a prosperous nation.

Supported India in dire crisis

Oman's friendship with India is very old. During the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Oman was the only Muslim country to support India. When all the world's superpowers and political leaders were determined to isolate India, and even the United States deployed its Seventh Fleet against India, the Islamic world was echoing Pakistan's voice in the name of religious solidarity, and every diplomatic door was slamming shut against India, this small Arab country, Oman, stood by India.

Neither the crowds nor the atmosphere...the friendship between India and Oman.

When friendly country India was fighting a war against Pakistan, it was Oman which neither saw the crowd, nor the atmosphere, nor the narrow lanes of politics, nor bowed to religious pressure. Oman stood firmly with India in the Indo-Pak war. From then till today, the friendship between India and Oman is becoming stronger with each passing moment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit this old and close friend country of his again. Many important agreements are to be signed during this visit of PM Modi, in which the signing of India-Oman Free Trade Agreement is also possible.

PM Modi's visit to Oman will write a new chapter

Today, Oman's friendship is such that the royal family of Oman considers India as their second home. The father of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq had studied in Pune, which further deepens the roots of this country's relations with India. Talking about Oman today, around 8 lakh Indians currently live in this country and PM Modi's presence will be a big message for the community there. After the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Oman, products like Indian textiles, gems, jewellery and machinery will be able to be sold in Oman without tax. This will increase India's export strength and will accelerate trade between the two countries.
