The married couple is a resident of the same village. Some influential people and the Panchayat of this village have expressed their displeasure over the marriage. The Panchayat has ordered to break the marriage.
A panchayat headed by elders of Kheri Sanwal, Patuwas and Mehrana villages also ordered the boycott of the family of the 25-year-old Muslim youth of the village. They say that they have no objection to the inter-religious marriage, but to the fact that both are residents of the same village. This can spoil the brotherhood of the village. At present, the process of formally cancelling the marriage through legal process is going on.

A Muslim youth and a Hindu girl of Mehrana village got married in a court on July 3. Dharampal, who chaired the panchayat, told the media, "The villagers made efforts and now this marriage has been annulled." He also said that the Hindu girl, who had converted to Islam for some time, has now sworn in an affidavit that she has returned to her previous religion.
Panchayat upset over marriage in same village!
Dharmpal, who heads the panchayat, added, "Police have been deployed in the village as similar situations have arisen earlier. Even before any decision was taken by the panchayat, the man's grandfather banned his grandson from entering the village." Another panchayat member said, "The man, his father and his grandfather have been excommunicated from all three villages." He said it is not right for people from the same village or nearby areas to marry each other and such marriages break the social fabric.
