The heat of the sun has made life miserable for people in many states of the country. The states of North India including Delhi are experiencing heat like May-June. The temperature in many cities has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra will experience severe heat from 25 to 29 April and there is a possibility of heat wave. 

Temperatures in Delhi crossed 40 degrees

There is severe heat in the national capital Delhi and NCR. The temperature has crossed 40 degrees in many areas of Delhi. During the last 24 hours, the temperature was recorded at 41.3 degrees in Delhi's Ridge area, 40.6 in Ayanagar, 39.7 in Palam, 39.6 in Safdarjung and 39.4 degrees on Lodhi Road. 

Heat wave warning in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions are likely at isolated places over western Madhya Pradesh during April 25-30. Heat wave alert has been issued over Rajasthan during 25-30, eastern Madhya Pradesh on April 25-27, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal on April 25-26, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on April 25-29. The maximum temperature over Northeast India, Rajasthan, Gujarat is likely to be 1-3 degrees Celsius above normal.

Heavy rain alert in these states

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at speed of 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph are very likely over Northeast India during next 7 days. Heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh during 25-27 April. Heavy rainfall is very likely over Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura during 25-26 April. Very heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam & Meghalaya on 26 April.

Strong winds will blow here

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely over Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during next 24 hours. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely over East India and East Uttar Pradesh during 26-29 April. Hailstorms are very likely over Jharkhand on 27th and 28th April and over Odisha on 28th April.

Thunderstorms (wind speed 50-60 kmph) are very likely over Bihar during 26-28th and over Gangetic West Bengal, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh on 27th and 28th and over south interior Karnataka on 27th April.
