News Topical, Digital Desk : Skin Cancer:  Skin cancer is one of the fastest-growing diseases worldwide. Cases of skin cancer are also rising rapidly in India. According to experts, it is one of those cancers whose early symptoms are clearly visible on the skin. Therefore, if detected early, treatment can be easy and largely successful.

However, the problem of skin cancer increases when people ignore early changes in the skin and mistake them for normal skin problems. So, today we will explain the symptoms of skin cancer that you should never ignore.

What are the early symptoms of skin cancer?

Most people are aware of the moles, freckles, and blemishes on their bodies. The earliest signs of skin cancer are changes in these areas. A new blemish or an old mole suddenly changes color or texture, which can be considered an early sign of skin cancer.

Skin cancer can also be identified using the ABCDE rule.

  • A - Asymmetry - Experts recommend following the ABCDE rule to identify skin cancer. A represents a part of the mole that doesn't match the rest.
  • B - Border- B means that part of the mole which appears irregular, blurred or torn at the edge of the mole.
  • C - Color- C means if more than one color is seen in the mole like brown, black or white, then it can also be a symptom of skin cancer.
  • D - Diameter- D means that the size of the mole is increasing, especially if it exceeds 6 mm, then do not ignore it.
  • E - Evolving - E means the mole is changing over time. This includes itching, pain, bleeding, or the formation of a new mole.

Other early signs of skin cancer

  • If there is a new lump or wound on your skin that does not heal even after weeks, then it can also be a symptom of skin cancer.
  • At the same time, continuous itching, pain or burning sensation in a mole or spot is also an early symptom of skin cancer.
  • Repeated scab formation or bleeding on a wound is also a common symptom.
  • At the same time, continuous increase in the size of the spot on the skin or its spreading to the surrounding skin is also a symptom of skin cancer.
  • Waxy or shiny growths on the skin are also a common symptom of skin cancer.
  • Redness, roughness, or scaly patches on the skin are also symptoms of skin cancer.

Who is most at risk of skin cancer?

According to experts, people with very fair skin, those who spend long periods of time in the sun, or those with a family history of the condition are at the highest risk of skin cancer. The elderly, those with weakened immunity, and those with numerous moles are also at higher risk. Experts advise against taking any unusual changes to your skin, wounds that don't heal, or any moles that suddenly change, and should immediately consult a doctor.
