
News Topical, Digital Desk : The last rites of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM founder Shibu Soren will be performed with state honours in his native village on Tuesday (August 5). The 81-year-old 'Dishom Guru' died on August 4 in the morning at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi. He was suffering from kidney disease for a long time and recently suffered a stroke.
His body was brought to Ranchi from Delhi on Monday (August 4) evening, where common people and leaders paid tribute till late night. Today at 9 am, his body was kept for the last darshan in the assembly premises in Ranchi. The last rites will be performed with state honors at 3 pm.
Who all will attend the funeral?
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, MLA Kalpana Soren, former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, Champai Soren, Babulal Marandi and other prominent leaders paid tribute during the last rites. These leaders may also attend the funeral. Lok Sabha MP from Purnia Pappu Yadav has also reached Ranchi.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are also reaching Ranchi to join the last rites. Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav has also left for Ranchi. Apart from this, TMC MPs Shatabdi Roy and Derek O'Brien have reached Ranchi.
Where will Shibu Soren's last rites be performed?
Shibu Soren's last rites will be performed at Nemra village in Ramgarh district for which the administration has made extensive preparations. Administrative officers including Deputy Commissioner and SP have been deployed. Special traffic and security arrangements have been made at the funeral site as political personalities from many states are expected to arrive.
three days state mourning
There is a wave of mourning in Jharkhand. The state government has declared three days of state mourning till August 6. Most of the schools in the state are closed today and special prayers were organized at many places.
Shibu Soren has been considered synonymous with Jharkhand politics. He was known as 'Dishom Guru' and fought for tribal rights and tribal dignity. He was the leader of JMM for 38 years and was known as the voice of the poor and tribals.
