News Topical, Digital Desk : Shakambhari Navratri 2025: There are 4 Navratris in a year, Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri are dedicated to Maa Durga, whereas in the Gupt Navratri of the month of Ashadha and Magh, 10 Mahavidyas are worshipped, but apart from this, Navratri is also celebrated in the month of Paush, it is known as Shakambhari Navratri.

Shakambhari Navratri 2025 Date

Shakambhari Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Shakambhari. This year, Shakambhari Navratri will begin on December 28, 2025, and end on January 3, 2026. This Navratri lasts only eight days and is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm, primarily in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and several parts of Uttar Pradesh.

This festival is celebrated from the eighth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Paush to the full moon. The first day of this Navratri is known as Banada Ashtami, and the last day is celebrated as Shakambhari Purnima.

Who is Mother Shakambhari? 

According to religious beliefs, Mother Shakambhari is a form of Goddess Bhagwati. She is known as the Goddess of Vegetation. Goddess Bhagwati incarnated as Goddess Shakambhari to free the earth from famine and food scarcity. Shakambhari Mata is also known as the Goddess of Vegetables, Fruits, and Green Leaves. She is depicted seated amidst a lush green environment of fruits and vegetables.

Shakambhari Navratri Puja Method

  • To worship Shakambhari Navratri, wake up early in the morning and take a bath after completing your daily routine.
  • Wear clean clothes and clean the place of worship.
  • Sow barley seeds in an earthen pot and sprinkle water on it.
  • On the first day of Shakambhari Navratri, in the auspicious time, wrap the Kalash in a red cloth and install it at the place of worship.
  • Fill the Kalash with Ganga water and place mango leaves and a coconut with roots on it.
  • Tie a red scarf and sacred thread around the coconut. Worship Goddess Durga with flowers, garlands, roli, camphor, and rice grains.
  • After worshipping the Mother Goddess on the last day of Navratri, immerse the Ghat and lift the Kalash from the altar.

Worshiping Goddess Shakambhari during this eight-day festival fills the storehouses of food and wealth. This festival holds special significance for farmers and those involved in agriculture, as it symbolizes prosperity and improved crop production.
