News Topical, Digital Desk : Newly appointed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor expressed optimism as he assumed charge on Wednesday and thanked US President Donald Trump for the opportunity.
In a post on X, Gore said, "I am very much looking forward to becoming the new US Ambassador to India. Thank you, President Trump. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and committed to honoring the confidence you have placed in me."
During Gore's swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday (local time), Trump said he was entrusting Gore with the responsibility of further strengthening strategic, economic and security ties with New Delhi, as well as deepening America's excellent relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"I trust Sergio to help strengthen one of our country's most important international relationships, and that is our strategic partnership with the Republic of India. That's a big deal," Trump said.
He further said that India is home to one of the world's most ancient civilizations, is the world's largest country, and has a population of over 1.5 billion. We have an excellent relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and Sergio's already friendly relationship with the Prime Minister has strengthened this even further.
India was declared a strategic security partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
Regarding the appointment of Sergio Gor, Trump said that he will be very successful in New Delhi and described the bilateral relations between India and America as very important.
The US President said that India has the fastest-growing middle class and is a vital economic and strategic security partner in the Indo-Pacific region. It is truly a remarkable country. As ambassador, Sergio will work to strengthen our countries' ties, promote investment in key US industries and technology, increase US energy exports, and expand our security cooperation. Congratulating the new ambassador, Trump said, "Being ambassador to India is a great thing. Sergio, I know you will do a great job."
Kwatra congratulates Gore
India's Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra on Tuesday congratulated the new US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, on his swearing-in and wished him well for his new assignment in New Delhi. Vice President JD Vance administered the oath of office to Gor at a White House ceremony presided over by President Donald Trump on Monday, attended by senior Trump administration aides, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.
