Rohini Vrat Katha (Rohini Vrat 2025 Katha In English)
In ancient times, King Madhava and Queen Lakshmipati ruled the city of Champapuri. They had seven sons and a daughter named Rohini. Once, the king asked a Brahmin about his daughter's future. He was told that Rohini would marry Prince Ashoka of Hastinapur. One day, the sage Shri Charan arrived in the forest of Hastinapur. King Ashoka and Queen Rohini went to see him. The king asked the sage why Queen Rohini remained so calm, while other queens were not. The sage then told the king an old story, explaining that in this same city, a king named Vastupal had a friend named Dhanmitra. Dhanmitra had a daughter named Durgandha. Her body odor was so foul that no one was willing to marry her. Troubled, Dhanmitra sought refuge with the sage. The sage explained that Durgandha's foul smell was the result of her past life's deeds. He instructed Durgandha to observe the Rohini fast. Each month, on the Rohini Nakshatra, she was to abstain from all four types of food and worship Lord Vasupujya Swami. Durgandha observed this fast with complete faith and devotion for five years and five months. As a result of this fast, her body became fragrant. In her next life, she first became a goddess of heaven and then was born as Queen Rohini, the wife of King Ashoka, whose calm nature was a result of this fast. The sage then told King Ashoka the story of his previous life as a Bhil and the significance of the Rohini fast. As a result of the Rohini fast, King Ashoka and Queen Rohini enjoyed worldly pleasures and ultimately attained salvation.
