News Topical, Digital Desk : The Rajasthan government has decided to implement a scrap policy for vehicles older than 15 years. Former cabinet minister and Congress leader Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that implementing a scrap policy for cars older than 15 years is a direct injustice to poor and middle-class families.
He said this decision is an attack on those families for whom their 15-year-old car is not just a vehicle, but a symbol of years of hard work and dreams. Khachariyawas said that children from poor and middle-class families still get a sparkle when they see their old cars, but the BJP government sees neither the children's feelings nor the common man's helplessness.
Khachariyawas targeted the BJP
Pratap Singh Khachariyawas strongly criticized the BJP over the policy decision. He said that the BJP government is only interested in lining its own pockets and benefiting major car companies, so it is attacking the poor.
Khachariyawas said that this black law is anti-people and will not be tolerated at any cost. If the government does not reverse this decision, we will take to the streets to defend the rights of poor and middle-class families. We will fight, raise our voices, but we will not allow the BJP's dictatorship to continue.
Government implemented new scrap policy
The state government, in a significant decision during its cabinet meeting, implemented a new scrappage policy. The primary objective of this policy is to gradually remove vehicles older than 15 years, those in poor condition, and those that emit high levels of pollution from the roads. Furthermore, these old vehicles will be disposed of safely and without harming the environment.
Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa stated at the meeting that under this policy, all government vehicles older than 15 years and vehicles voluntarily donated by private car owners will be scrapped. Owners who scrap their old vehicles and purchase new ones will receive an additional discount on motor vehicle tax.
