News Topical, Digital Desk : The Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is not just a pilgrimage site, but a wonderful confluence of Sanatan culture, devotion, and many unsolved mysteries. One of these mysteries is the temple 's vast and miraculous kitchen, considered the world's largest temple kitchen. Spread over approximately 44,000 square feet, this kitchen is not just a place for cooking food, but is also the site of the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.
Where Mahaprasad is prepared daily for millions of devotees. Its most remarkable feature is that, despite the daily increase or decrease in the number of devotees, Mahaprasad is never insufficient or left unused.
reverse order of utensils
Here, seven clay pots are stacked one on top of the other over a wood fire to prepare the prasad. The surprising thing is that the topmost pot in this stack is cooked first, followed by the lower pots in turn. This is considered a miracle of God himself.
Blessings of Goddess Lakshmi
It is believed that the Mahaprasad is blessed by Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Annapurna. It is also said that if the cooks preparing the prasad become even slightly arrogant or lack the purity of the prasad, the clay pots break for one reason or another, demonstrating that food should be cooked with devotion and dedication.
The miracle of never falling short
Around 56 offerings are prepared here daily. The temple administration does not do any measurement, yet whether the number of devotees is 20 thousand or 2 lakh, everyone gets Mahaprasad and not even a single grain is wasted. The devotees have an unshakable faith that only by the will of Lord Jagannath, that much Prasad is prepared as many devotees want to eat. The Prasad prepared in this kitchen, which is called Mahaprasad after being offered to the Lord, is not just food for the devotees, but is a form of "Anna Brahma", which is beyond caste, class and wealth.
