Amidst a spate of robberies in the district, an elderly Amritdhari woman was murdered during a robbery. Three armed robbers targeted the woman while she was on her way to Gurudwara Sahib early in the morning to offer prayers and seriously injured her while snatching her gold earrings.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on January 12th. 71-year-old Karya Singh, a resident of Mathra Bhagi village, was on his way to the Gurdwara Sahib with his wife, Tasbir Kaur, as usual. After walking a short distance, three robbers suddenly appeared before them.
The robbers tried to snatch the gold earrings Tasbir Kaur was wearing. When she resisted, they attacked her with a sharp weapon, striking her in the head, leaving her seriously injured on the spot.

The injured Tasbir Kaur was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Amritsar. Her condition was extremely critical. Doctors tried their best, but she died during treatment. Following this incident, panic gripped the village, and people are questioning the security arrangements.
ASI Shingara Singh of Khalda police station stated that a case has been registered against village resident Varyam Singh, son of Gulzar Singh, and two unidentified individuals. Police are searching for them and are hopeful they will be apprehended soon. The increasing number of robbery incidents in Tarn Taran district has created an atmosphere of fear among the people. Villagers have demanded that the administration increase patrolling during the night and morning hours to prevent such incidents.
