News Topical, Digital Desk : The rainy season is pleasant but along with the coolness, it also brings the havoc of mosquitoes. In this season, due to waterlogging everywhere, the menace of mosquitoes increases and so does the risk of dengue and malaria. You can stay safe from these small but dangerous predators with these methods.

Apply insect repellent

This is the easiest way to avoid mosquitoes. Especially children who go out to play in the evening should definitely apply insect repellent. Applying it in this way will be more effective:-

  • Apply on open areas: Apply insect repellent on exposed skin. Especially on your knees, legs, neck, ears, hands.
  • Avoid applying it on the mouth and nose: Avoid pumping the spray insect repellent directly on the face. Instead, spray it on your hands. If you are applying a cream repellent, apply it while avoiding the eyes and mouth.
  • Sunscreen first: If you  are wearing sunscreen  , apply it before applying insect repellent.
  • Reapply: Insect repellent is less effective when you sweat or get wet, so be sure to reapply to stay protected.

Wear the right clothes and stay safe

Mosquitoes mostly bite on exposed skin. Wear loose long sleeve shirts or T-shirts. Wear full pyjamas or pants so that mosquitoes cannot bite your legs. However, clothes like jeans   are the best way to protect yourself from mosquitoes .

Keep an eye on the time too

Although mosquitoes fly all the time, they are more active from dusk to before nightfall. Take extra care of your safety during this time.

Keep your surroundings dry

If water is collecting anywhere around you, it can cause mosquitoes to breed. Mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water, so do not allow water to collect. Keep these things clean where water collects:

  • pots and buckets
  • dustbin
  • kids water pool

Take care of cleanliness

Although sweating is good for health, it also attracts mosquitoes. If your clothes are soaked in sweat, dry them or change them.

Avoid fragranced products

Even though you may like to wear perfume or keep smelling good, mosquitoes are attracted to it too. Mosquitoes are attracted to perfumes and scented lotions, especially if you are bitten a lot by mosquitoes.

Keep the windows closed

Keep the windows closed, especially in the evening, to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house. Do not forget to use a mosquito net while sleeping.
