According to the Vedic calendar, the Trayodashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Magha will begin at 8:16 pm on January 15th. This Tithi will end at 10:21 pm on January 16th. Therefore, based on the calendar, the first Pradosh fast of the month of Magha will be observed on Friday, January 16th.
Pradosh Vrat 2026 Puja Rituals
- Wake up early in the morning, take a bath and take a vow to fast.
- Remain sattvic throughout the day and chant Shiva mantras in your mind.
- Take bath again in the evening about 45 minutes before sunset.
- After this, anoint Lord Shiva with Ganga water, milk, curd, honey and ghee.
- Offer him Bilva leaves, Datura, Aak flowers and ashes.
- Read the story of Pradosh Vrat and perform Aarti at the end.
- Apologize for all the mistakes made during the puja.
