News Topical, Digital Desk : Political repression and targeted violence continue in Bangladesh under the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. An Awami League leader has died in prison, and a case of the murder of an activist has also been reported.

Abdur Rahman Mia, a 70-year-old Awami League leader in Chittagong, has died in prison. Family members say he was denied bail and adequate medical treatment despite suffering from advanced lung cancer and numerous other problems. He was arrested on November 17, 2025.

Body of former student league leader found

Meanwhile, the mutilated body of 45-year-old former Chhatra League leader Azimul Quader Bhuiyan was recovered in Narsingdi. The Chhatra League is the student wing of the Awami League. Party leaders claim that Jamaat-e-Islami activists were involved in the murder. However, law enforcement officials have not confirmed any political motive.

BNP election office vandalized in Dinajpur

The election campaign office of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was vandalized in Bangladesh's Dinajpur district. Eyewitnesses alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami activists attacked the office, broke chairs and tables, and tore banners and election campaign material. Two BNP activists present in the office were also assaulted during the attack.
