News Topical, Digital Desk : Nearly two dozen people were trapped after a large iceberg broke off the coast of Canada's Georgian Bay. However, all 23 people were rescued safely.
Police said the incident occurred Sunday afternoon when a layer of ice suddenly shifted, drifted about a mile from shore, and broke into several sections, partially submerging some people in the icy water.
By noon, all the survivors had been safely airlifted to shore by helicopter. Some suffered minor injuries and hypothermia, but all were reported to be in stable condition.

Provincial police say 23 people were rescued after a piece of ice broke away from the shore in Georgian Bay on Sunday.
In a post on social media, Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to reports of several people stranded on the ice near Balmy Beach, north of Owen Sound, Ontario, shortly before 12 p.m.
The OPP said winds and current pushed the ice shelf approximately two kilometres from shore. Police added that everyone was safely airlifted back to shore by approximately 2:30 p.m.
"The 23 people rescued reported minor injuries, including hypothermia. Hypothermia was life-threatening for many. All are expected to make a full recovery," provincial police said.
