News Topical, Digital Desk : Following talks between representatives of the Pakistani government and the Taliban government in Istanbul, mediated by Turkiye, an important statement has come from the Taliban.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that the Pakistani government wants to reach a bilateral agreement with Afghanistan, but the Pakistani military is not allowing it. The Pakistani military is not interested in good relations with Afghanistan. This is why talks between the two countries are failing.

'Pakistani Army engaged in spoiling relations'

In an interview with Tolo News, a Taliban spokesman said, “The Pakistani military is constantly trying to sabotage relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. At the same time that the Pakistani government's special envoy, Sadiq Khan, was in Kabul for talks, the Pakistani military was attacking Afghanistan and disrupting the situation.”

'Both countries are suffering losses'

Mujahid said that due to the closure of the routes built on the Durand Line by Pakistan, trade between the two countries has stopped and both the countries are suffering losses.

He said that Pakistan should share information it has about terrorist organizations operating on Afghan soil with Afghanistan to ensure action against them. If the Pakistani government wants our cooperation in preventing incidents on Pakistani soil, they will have to take steps to do so; we have no control there. The Taliban government will not allow anyone to engage in anti-Pakistan activities in Afghanistan.

Khaama Press, in its analysis, said that the Istanbul talks have eased tensions between the two countries, but also revealed the persisting mistrust and confusion between them. Consequently, no clear agreement has been reached between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
