According to a Hindustan Times report, actor Ajith Kumar said in a statement at the time of announcement of the award, ‘I feel humble and proud to receive this prestigious honor. For this, I thank President Draupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi from the bottom of my heart.’

Apart from this, Shekhar Kapur wrote in a post on social media, 'This is the biggest honor of my life. This award inspires me to work harder and serve the people of my country. I am also grateful to the audience of Indian cinema for this, I have reached here only because of them.
