New Delhi: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach has made a big statement on Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat. Thomas said that two silver medals cannot be given in one category. However, he also said that whatever decision the Court of Arbitration takes will be followed.
Vinesh was scheduled to compete against Sarah Ann Hildebrandt of the United States in the final of the 50kg freestyle weight category, but on Wednesday she was disqualified for being just 100 grams overweight. After being disqualified, wrestler Phogat requested the CAS to jointly award her the silver medal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on Friday announced that the decision in the Vinesh Phogat case will be taken before the Olympics conclude. Earlier, CSA kept the medal hopes alive by accepting Vinesh Phogat's appeal.

Now speaking at a press conference, Thomas Bach said that there cannot be two silver medals in one category. He said that the rules of the International Federation have to be followed. The IOC President concluded by saying that in the end they will accept the decision of CAS.
