News Topical, Digital Desk : This is going to be the first time in the history of the country that an American company is going to transfer its nuclear technology to India. This is being considered a major achievement amid the tense US relations with India.

Flowserve Corporation of the US has signed an agreement with Core Energy Systems Limited of India for transfer of Primary Coolant Pump (PCP) technology to meet nuclear power needs in the country.

There will be a record increase in electricity production

With the help of this technology, India will be able to achieve its target of producing 100 gigawatts of electricity from nuclear energy by 2047. Currently, only 8.2 gigawatts of energy is being produced through nuclear plants.

Primary coolant pump important thing

Nagesh Basarkar, CMD of Core Energy Systems, said that the most important thing in developing a nuclear power plant is the supply chain. The most complex equipment is the reactor and the second important thing is the primary coolant pump. There is only one vendor of this in the country, which causes a lot of problems.

Flowserve is the market leader in primary coolant pumps. Basarkar said that this is the first time that American technology is being given to India. It has received CFR 810 approval.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US in February this year, the two countries had talked about fully implementing the US-India 123 civil nuclear deal. Modi and Trump had emphasized on localization of technology.

The path to technology reaching India is clear

Basarkar said that this will pave the way for India to get more and more technology from America in the future. He said that it takes about five years to get approval for the transfer of this important technology from America.

America's nuclear department assured

He said the US Atomic Energy Agency (DAE) has been assured that the technology transfer will be used for peaceful civilian nuclear purposes.
