The National Stock Exchange (NSE) informed investors in a circular that in view of the Budget, 'live' trading sessions will be held as per normal timings.

Pre-open market: 9:00 AM to 9:08 AM. Normal trading: 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. Similarly, the BSE has declared February 1st a "special trading day" and stated that markets will remain open for regular trading hours. Markets remaining open on Budget Day will provide investors with an opportunity to react immediately to policy announcements.

End to budget speculation

The central government has clarified that the Union Budget 2026 will be presented on February 1st, as scheduled. Despite it being a Sunday, the budget date remains unchanged. All speculation surrounding the budget session has now been put to rest. The recent Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) meeting approved all key dates for the budget session. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present her ninth budget on this occasion. She has presented two interim and six full budgets so far. With this budget, she will surpass Pranab Mukherjee's record and equal P. Chidambaram's record of presenting the budget nine times.
