News Topical, Digital Desk : American aviation startup Ott Aerospace has designed a private jet that doesn't have traditional windows. This futuristic jet, called the Phantom 3500, is highly fuel efficient and offers a sci-fi-film-like interior.
The cabin of this special jet will be teardrop-shaped. Instead of windows, the entire wall will be 6-foot-long digital panels, providing a virtual view of the outside world. This view will be provided by high-resolution cameras mounted on the outside.
How many seats will there be?
The company's CEO, Paul Tau, said, "Now you won't have to bend over to look outside; you'll be able to see the entire surroundings from your seat. It will be an absolutely amazing experience." The jet will have a total of nine seats and will be 22 feet long and 7.5 feet wide.
A major contract has already been signed for this jet. Private jet company Flexjet has signed an agreement to purchase it. The company will purchase 300 jets over the next six to eight years. Considering the market price of each jet is approximately $19.5 million (about Rs 163 crore), the deal could reach $5.85 billion. The first delivery is expected in 2030.
People's reaction on social media
However, not everyone liked the idea of a windowless plane. Many on social media compared it to flying in a tin can. Some said the real view from a window was better than any digital screen.
This jet will not only be unique in appearance but will also revolutionize fuel economy. The company claims that its design will result in up to 60% fuel savings. If sustainable engine diesel is used, savings of up to 90% are possible.
The first trial will be held in 2027
The company presented the first prototype of the Phantom 3500 at a conference. However, its first test flight will take place in 2027, as it still needs certification from the FAA. The company believes that in the future, this jet could make private flights so affordable that people will choose private flights over business class. According to the CEO, the market for flying wealthy people around the world is much larger than space travel.
