New Delhi: Sonobuoys. India's maritime security is going to increase further. The US has finalized a deal for possible foreign military sales of anti-submarine warfare sonobuoys and related equipment to India. The estimated cost of this deal will be $ 52.8 million. Let us first know why the Indian Navy needed sonobuoys.
Sonobuoy is a portable sonar system. Sound waves are released in water through the sonar system. If a submarine, ship or any other object collides with it, then its echo is produced.
There are three main types of sonobuoys: active, passive and special purpose sonobuoys. Through sonobuoys, the Indian Navy will be more capable of giving a befitting reply to the nefarious designs of Pakistan and China at sea.
First squadron of MS-60R helicopters ready in India
After being equipped with sonobuoys with acoustic sensors (Anti-Submarine Warfare Sonobuoys), the Indian Navy will be able to hear even the faintest sounds of enemy submarines under the sea very well. The US-origin MH-60R helicopters will enhance India's ability to deal with threats by increasing its ability to conduct anti-submarine warfare operations.
At the same time, it will be easy to destroy enemy submarines during war. India has formed its first squadron of MS-60R helicopters. It includes six helicopters that have been supplied from America.
