New Delhi: A person who travelled from a country experiencing 'ampox' transmission has tested positive for the disease. Now the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given further information about this. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the first suspected case of 'ampox' (monkeypox) has been verified as a travel-related infection.

The sample was tested. The test confirmed the presence of West African Clade-2 ampox virus in the patient.

Where did Ampox come from?

The ministry said, 'This case is an isolated case similar to the earlier 30 cases reported in India after July 2022, and is not part of the current public health emergency (reported by WHO) with respect to Clade 1 of MPOX.
